Headache / migraine

Headache is common, but its causes can be very different. Often it requires an thorough interdisciplinary examination by, for example, internists, neurologists, ENT specialists, orthopedics and ophtalmologists.
Spinal cord stimulation / SCS

Spinal cord stimulation is a minimally invasive procedure that is used to treat chronic pain with a so-called spinal cord stimulator system, also called neurostimulator or neuromodulator.
Disc prosthesis / ADR

During disc prosthesis surgery, the affected disc is replaced by a flexible synthetic disc prosthesis between titan mountings. This disc prosthesis is fixed between the vertebraeso that normal flexibility of the adjoining vertebrae remains.
Dizziness

Many patients talk about ‘dizziness’, but actually mean imbalance (disequilibrium / balance disorder) or other conditions. Some types of epilepsy can be misinterpreted as dizziness. Due to this dizziness is discussed more detailed below.
Peripheral nerves

The peripheral nervous system includes every nerve that supplies muscles or the skin.
Parkinson’s disease

Parkinson’s disease is one of the most frequent neurological movement disorders. About 400.000 people in Germany are suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
Neuralgia / trigeminal neuralgia

Neuralgia describes pain in an area innervated by a certain nerve. Pain is caused by the nerve or the brain without an exterior damage. Neuralgia can potentially affect every nerve. The most common form of neuralgia is trigeminal neuralgia.
Morton’s neuroma / Morton’s metatarsalgia

Mortons’s neuroma, also called Morton’s metatarsalgia, is caused by an irritation or compression of toe nerves. Women are more frequently affected than men.
Vertebroplasty / Kyphoplasty

Kyphoplastie und Vertebroplastie sind zwei bewährte minimalinvasive Verfahren zur Behandlung von osteoporotischen Wirbelbrüchen.
Carpal tunnel syndrome

In case of carpal tunnel syndrome, there is a narrowing under the transverse ulnar ligament in the wrist canal (carpal tunnel). In addition to flexor tendons of muscles of the hand and fingers, there is also a nerve that innervates the hand: the median nerve. A thorough clinical and also device-assisted examinations (electrophysiological examination/MRI if indicated) can help diagnose a bottleneck that affects the median nerve.
Instability / listhesis

Listhesis is the name for an unnaturally mobile vertebra, which moves, leaves its normal position and, thus, can cause different complaints. Beside listhesis also the term spondylolisthesis is common.
Essential tremor

A tremor is an involuntary shaking of parts of the body. A tremor is essential if it is not caused by another disease, drugs or toxic substances.
Endoscopic spine surgery

Endoscopic spine surgery is a closed percutaneous method which has started a new age of slipped disc treatment. This gentle, comfortable and revolutionary treatment is used to cure many kinds of herniated discs and chronic back pain.
Endoscopic abrasion

The minimally invasive endoscopic abrasion does not only allow the gentle removal of slipped discs/disc protrusions, but also induces a regeneration of these discs. In general, this kind of surgery causes an enormous permanent lessening respectively removal of pain, very often directly after surgery.
Dystonia

Dystonia is the name for a group of diseases characterized by sustained muscle contractions.
Decompression / microlaminectomy

By the so-called decompression, the thickened and protruding bone and ligament formations are removed, and, thus, the nomal diameter of the spinal canal is reconstructed. Because decompression surgery is a minimally invasive operation even suitable for risk patients, it can be undergone in local anaesthesia. However, in most cases, a very gentle general anaesthesia is used.
Decompression / Jannetta surgery

Bei Trigeminusneuralgien verläuft oft eine kleine Arterie am Ursprung des Nervs aus dem Stammhirn. Diese findet sich nicht bei Gesunden.
Slipped disc / herniated disc

Oftmals lassen sich Bandscheibenvorfälle im Lendenwirbelbereich mit „konservativen“ Behandlungsmethoden behandeln, also ohne Operation.
Tinnitus

Tinnitus means ‘ringing in the ear’. The highfrequency, persistant whistling sound is differentiated from the pulsatile or pulsating tinnitus, which is synchronized by heart beat. Besides there is the irregular tinnitus which does not strictly match any of the abovementioned patterns.
Cubital tunnel syndrome / ulnar nerve entrapment

The cubital tunnel syndrome, also called ulnar nerve entrapment, is caused by a compression of the ulnar nerve in the cubital tunnel, a canal proceeding through the elbow.
Stabilization / fusion surgery

Before our specialists recommend spine fusion (spondylodesis / stiffening of spine), all therapy alternatives to cure chronic back pain, e.g., endoscopic nucleotomy, endoscopic abrasion or disc prosthesis surgery (ADR), are considered.
Spinal stenosis / spinal canal stenosis

Lumbar spinal canal stenosis is a narrowing of the lumbar spinal canal causing various symptoms and emerging more often in the old age. Due to the ‘pincer´s effect’, compression damage of nerve roots follows (see illustration A and B). Because the term spinal canal stenosis is often replaced by the more common term spinal stenosis, we use it in the following text. Most spinal canal stenoses are to be found in lumbar spine or cervical spine.
Facet joint arthrosis / facet syndrome

Arthrosis emerges as a result of wear of joints and can occur age-relatedly or as a result of overload or wrong movements or postures during load. Generally, genetic disposition plays a role and determines how we age as well as how our body reacts to load.
Electrophysiology

By carrying out an electrophysiological examination, we can detect functional disorders of the nervous system. Normally, we measure the electrical signal processing of nerve and muscle cells during an electrophysiological examination and compare the results with results of healthy patients.
Brain Tumor

In the Neuro-Oncology department at Beta Klinik Bonn, we accompany you on the challenging journey of a brain tumor diagnosis with experience, empathy, and innovative medical procedures.
Microsurgery

Die Operation eines Hirntumors wird entweder zur Diagnosesicherung (Biopsie) oder zur kompletten oder möglichst vollständigen Entfernung durchgeführt.
